WPtouch Goes Live On WordPress.com

Many of our clients use the self-hosted version of WordPress which is available from WordPress.org. That’s a great option, and allows them to use the latest and most popular plugins. But many people don’t need that much flexibility, and instead opt for using the free WordPress.com service which is run by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.

Years ago I had a chat with Matt Mullenweg down at WordCamp San Francisco where he hinted that they might activate WPtouch on WordPress.com. It looks like that day is finally here— WPtouch is now available for users of WordPress.com.

I have to say, it’s pretty cool to finally see it up for everyone to use. According to that post, over 60 million page views a month are made from mobile devices, many of which will now see their own blog through the eyes of WPtouch. Dale and I have a bunch of great ideas for WPtouch, so hopefully some of the changes we have in store will also end up on WordPress.com in the near future.
