Wait, what does this plugin do?

WPtouch Pro is a WordPress plugin that shows a powerful, well-designed mobile theme version of your site to the most popular touch-based smartphones like the iPhone, Google Android phones, Palm Pre and Blackberry touch phones. Over 90% of mobile web traffic will see your site with WPtouch Pro.

It automatically detects these devices and serves its mobile-friendly theme to them first. Desktop visitors still see your regular theme, and changes to it do not affect WPtouch Pro and vice-versa.

So what’s different about WPtouch 2.0 Pro vs. 1.x?

Well that’s a can of worms! Actually, everything is, really.

We’ve re-written the plugin top to bottom, with the goal of building a strong foundation and platform for many great features. Web-app mode, support for themes and custom themes, a powerful brand new admin panel, full internationalization, and more powerful discussion and menu features are some of the major differences. Why do I have to pay for 2.0?

Well, you don’t have to pay, you can continue using 1.9.x, we’ll still service it going forward.

That said, WPtouch Pro represents over 500 hours of work by BraveNewCode. We wanted to make sure WPtouch remains the best mobile plugin for WordPress, and have lots of plans to add some very cool things down the road. There is simply no way we could accomplish this without compensation for the time we put into the project.

So when you buy WPtouch Pro you’re getting a great plugin today, but also supporting its advancement into something even more powerful you’ll enjoy tomorrow. And you’re helping us feed ourselves, so thanks for dinner!

Why can’t I find WPtouch Pro in the WordPress plugin repository?

In reality, WPtouch Pro is an entirely new plugin based on the same ‘ideas’ that WPtouch .x was built from.

Because we are charging a fee for upgrades and support, we did not want to release this version into the repository and confuse people when they upgraded. Though WPtouch Pro is GPL and complies with WordPress’ requirements for plugins, we prefer not to confuse or frustrate WPtouch 1.x users with an upgrade that required them to pay to have more updates when they previously updated without paying.

How come WPtouch Pro isn’t warranted or refundable?

Warranty

WPtouch Pro cannot be warrantied because of the nature of web environments and WordPress configurations. WordPress itself is not warranted by Automattic.

Refunds

As with all software once purchased, it can be easily copied. We don’t offer refunds because of this reason.

Will there be a free version of WPtouch Pro?

At some point there will be a 2.0 basic version, which will be released through the repository. It won’t include all the things that our Pro users enjoy, but it will have lots of improvements over 1.9. We expect to hand down features from the Pro version to the basic version over time. Our Pro users will always enjoy the latest and greatest additions first, however.

Why so expensive?

We don’t agree that you could call WPtouch Pro expensive at all, for a number of reasons.

When compared with other premium mobile solutions for WordPress— WPtouch Pro is both cheaper, and more powerful in our opinion.

And also when compared with many other premium WordPress plugins, WPtouch Pro is less expensive, and arguably, offers more value for a website.

There isn’t a web designer/developer in the world that would/could build something that does all of what WPtouch Pro can do for less than $29. If you can find one, we’ll give you a free copy, and hire the person, too!

Okay, I’m sold! What happens after I buy a Single, 5-Pack or Developer license?

Great! When you purchase a license for WPtouch Pro you’ll receive an email from us with your account details, license key, information to download the plugin and access the User Docs, Support and Knowledge Base.

If you used 1.x, there’s also instructions on how to upgrade from it included.

If you’ve used our support forums before, you’ll see new WPtouch forums just for Pro users. You’ll always find a download link for the latest version in the forums sidebar, and your WPtouch Pro license key on your BNCID profile.

While WPtouch Pro was designed to work in concert with other plugins, handle WordPress updates easily and make a very small footprint on your server, it does have a few requirements which you should be sure you meet before installing WPtouch Pro.
