What Is The ‘Earth Hour’ Plugin?
One of the things we take pretty seriously here at BraveNewCode is our goal as a company and as individuals to do what we can to make this world a better place. That’s why we’ve supported the Earth Hour initiative over the past few years, and have tried to get other people interested as well.
If you are a WordPress site owner, and you support Earth Hour and their environmental initiatives, then please install this plugin and lend your voice to the millions of people already supporting the effort. Together we can make our planet a better place not only for each other, but for those who will inherit this planet from us.
How Does It Work?
Once the plugin is installed your site will display a banner at the top that shows others that you support the Earth Hour initiative, and will also show a count of how many other WordPress sites in the world are also supporting Earth Hour. During Earth Hour (which starts at 8:30pm local time on Saturday, March 27th 2010), the Earth Hour plugin will temporarily disable your site for the hour, showing instead a message of solidarity.
Given that there are millions of WordPress sites in the world, we’re hoping our combined efforts will positively contribute to Earth Hour, and inspire others towards environmental action as well.
