MatthewGood.org Project Overview

MatthewGood.org is a top 5 Canadian blog, created by prominent Canadian musician & activist Matthew Good. It has been home to several other prominent bloggers & journalists in the past, and has an extensive archive stretching back 11 years.

Our work with Matthew has been considerable, helping him transform the appearance of his website several times. Our work together has both been explorative in terms of what WordPress can ultimately be stretched to do, and also reciprocal— Matthew has also supported BraveNewCode’s ideas and recommendation to improve the website and user experience.

Latest And Greatest

The latest changes involved a major overhaul to the entire code-base of the website, cleaning out unneeded older code and making things more optimized, while most importantly making the site easy to browse and easy for Matthew himself to manage and update.

  We added custom tooltips to help give users information about Matthew's social media links.

  We created a custom mix tape that allows visitors of MatthewGood.org to listen to a few of his songs.

  Clear, simple discography with links for purchase, tracklistings and extra info.

•   Wifi Store

  Preview tracks from albums and purchase directly form the iPhone & iPod touch.

•   Music Splash

  The music splash page, a portal specifically for fans to find the music content they're looking for.

•   Main

  The main landing post view allowed visitors to browse entries and see which posts had comments they had not seen or read yet.

•   Lifestream

  Tapping into Matt's social networks, we delivered a timeline for visitors to stay on top of Matt's latest posts, Flickr photos, Delicious bookmarks and more.

  Fans and registered users could login on the mobile site to comment and gain access to exclusive material.

•   Dropdown Menu

  Easy access to pages designed for the mobile theme.

•   Flickr Main

  A unique, custom implementation of Matt's Flickr photos.

  Chat in real time with other fans using the Community IM.

•   Discography Splash

  Discography page customized with large buttons for touch mobile phones.

  Allowed fans to puchase music directly from the iTunes Store on the iPhone & iPod touch.
