One of the problems with using the built-in excerpt function is WordPress is that you lose context regarding the nature of each entry. For example, it’s not immediately obvious looking at an excerpt if there is any media, such as audio or video, within the post. Cool Excerpt addresses this issue by providing iconic representations for the content within the post.

Installation

To install Cool Excerpt, simply extract the download into your WordPress plugins directory and enable the plugin in the dashboard. Next, replace all calls to the_excerpt() with ds_the_excerpt() within your Wordpress theme.
