WPtouch 1.9.9.8: We Got The Fix For You
Mar 19 2010 • Written By Dale Mugford • 69 Comments

Today we released WPtouch 1.9.9.8, a bug fix and maintenance release targeted at addressing issues related to RSS feeds in the admin panel. For some users the admin panel would either be partially loaded or fail to load entirely. This release also addresses an issue where using website RSS feeds elsewhere in a template or plugins (such as the FeedWordPress plugin) might also be affected.

This is update is recommended for all users.

Changelog

  • Fixes admin panel not working or broken for some users
  • Changed admin panel RSS feeds to use AJAX
  • Added function_exists and object checks to admin RSS
  • Changed Tweet RSS Feed to Support Forum Topics
  • Fixed minor page menu CSS issue
  • Included 40% reduction in PNG sizes thanks to BNCID user 13xforever

    Hi,

I am testing your program and I like what I see but I am having a problem. Even though our blog is publishing articles everyday, my iphone is not updating the posts. On my iphone, only the posts that were published at our website 2 days ago are showing up on the iphone.

Is there something special that I need to do? http://aglobalworld.com/holidays-around-the-world/ is our blog.

    Thanks, Noel

Yes, save over the previous plugin. Can you not use the auto-upgrade feature in WordPress?

    Dale,

Sorry about the length of my previous comment. I also have an odd wit about me, so hopefully none of what I said was misinterpreted. Just for the record (I mean CD), it was all quite innocent.

But I sure would love to disable dates appearing on WPtouch.

    Thanks,
    Lar

Yeah no worries Lar. With the customization available in 2.0 we think those types of feature additions are best handled on your end. And with themes being independent of plugin updates you won’t lose the customization work when there’s an update ;)

  4. I had this on my site, but after the latest update, it showed up in my browser on my PC IE. I had to login and deactiviate it to get my theme back. Any thoughts?

Still broken. I have no option to save what I change… I can change things but not save them! So even if I hit enter it reverts back to were it was! The theme is pointless if I can’t edit any settings.. It has bad settings right now and I need to change it… Can you get a Save All button in there or something? PLEASE FIX this has been like this for a few months then I asked you if you could fix it and you still haven’t! PLEASE FIX!

For the vast majority of users, they don’t have the problem. Not saying it’s not important, but that the issue may be on your end. Have you posted in our support forums?

I’ve actually had the same issue in the Settings -> WPtouch that I cannot see the save button the last thing I see is

        Stats & Custom Code

If you’d like to capture traffic statistics
        (Google Analytics, MINT, etc.)

Enter the code snippet(s) for your statistics tracking here.

You can also enter custom CSS & other code here. ?
        More Info

You can enter a custom css file link easily. Simply add the full link to the css file like this:

        * Google AdSense ID
        * Google AdSense Channel

  6. I thought I posted this here already, but I don’t see it.

I’m having an issue with the RSS images when WPtouch is installed. It seems to override the setting for thumbnail size in WordPress for the sized down images that appear in my RSS feed. I have thumbnails set to be 300 pixels on longest side, but when I have WPtouch installed it overrides that and changes them to be squares cropped to 50×50. Currently, to deal with this, I have to disable WPtouch every time I create a blog posting. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Sorry, this got overlooked. We’ll add a fix for the next update.

Interesting that visiting a WPtouch with the new Opera Mobile renders in the mobile version, and doesn’t do a bad job of rendering. Don’t waste time on getting it to render in Opera Mini though.

Opera Mini is available on the App store, but not compatible with WPtouch

  9. I second Djib’s comment. Opera Mini on the iphone will only show the title of a single post but thats about it.

Other than that, awesome plugin – thanks a ton for the work and dedication.

Opera isn’t high on the priority list right now. It’s compression method is likely the culprit.

What is high on the priority list?

Yes. We’ll publish details soon. Will still be a freely available version, with most of the new stuff.

With all the work you put into the plugin, you deserve some return. Best of luck!
