Upcoming WPtouch Release Information
Dec 14 2008 • Written By Dale Mugford • 4 Comments

We’re just a few days away from shipping out our WPtouch 1.6 update, an update which bundles new features, updates for WordPress 2.7 compatibility, and a solid fix for the dreaded ‘white page’ and ‘too many re-directs’ issues facing some users.

We’ll continue to do some testing over the next few days to ensure a solid release for everyone, so hang tight for now and look out Monday : )

WPtouch 2.0

We’re still working on WPtouch 2.0, but instead of the ‘giant leap’ approach we considered earlier, we’re slowly chipping away at the 1.x branch, a stand in tow with Matt Mullenweg and crew against version inflation.

We’ve been doing a code-rewrite along with some help from the WordPress crew to optimize WPtouch for multi-blog environments such as those in WPMU scenarios, adding 2 more default themes (and theme switching support), localization, plus other goodies. Stay tuned.

  1. Hi Dale and Duane,

Sorry to keep beating the same drum, but is WP-Super-Cache support also in the works? (especially since you now have official support from the WP dev team on WP MU support, which I hope is support from Donncha himself). Latest WP-Super-Cache 0.8.6 has specific caching support for different user agent themes and this would solve of lot of your support comments and my nightmares to keep these two working together upgrade after upgrade :)

We hear you, it’s just something that will take a bit of work and wasn’t on the hotlist right now. We were more concerned with resolving the only major outstanding issue affecting some users (blank site).

After 1.6, we’ll re-focus on supporting more plugins natively, especially ‘top 10′ plugins like WP (Super) Cache.

  3. Thanks for the comment Dale. All the best getting 1.6 out error free and I’ll be eagerly awaiting newer versions of WPtouch with support for WP-Super-Cache and hopefully Ajax Edit Comments. I’ll definitely fire up another nice donation once WPtouch is compatble with Super Cache as a small incentive to get you guys working on it ;)
